"A very interesting book could be written about
the Raccoon and, with its industrious energy and resourcefulness, it
deserves to be elevated to the status of the National Emblem in place of
the parasitical, carrion-feeding Bald Eagle."

THE AITA has captured the hearts of a growing number of dog enthusiasts over the last few years. The majesty and intelligence of these wonderful animals never ceases to amaze me. But unlike many well written website, this site is dedicated to what some consider an undesirable trait in the Akita - the trait of longhair. Yet there are many Akita owners such as myself who feel that the longhair Akita is beautiful animal and should be held in as much regard as their shorthaired brethren. Therefore, I hope that this new website will become a clearing-house for information on the longhair Akita. I hope to include some general facts about the longhair Akita as well as the pictures. I also hope to hear feedback from you as to whether the longhair Akita should become a new separate breed. There has been debate among Akita owners over this topic, so what I plan to do here is give everybody a platform to air their opinions and who knows what will come out it - maybe an offically designated new breed? So, Welcome to the WORLD WIDE LONG HAIR AKITA SITE, where I pay tribute to The Longhair Akita, my favorite creature, my favorite companion, and one of my greatest inspirations. I hope you enjoy it! --Steve Kaelin |
